Slapbak: Fast Food Funkateers

Coldblooded Slapbak. In your face.

OK. THIS IS HOW YOU DO IT PROPERLY.

Production by Jara Harris for the new school, Bootsy Collins and Larry Blackmon representing recondite dress sense, the whole thing mixed by Susan ‘Paisley Park’ Rogers in 1992. George Clinton just before… his ‘retirement’ and the line “Your face is stuck in neutral and you can’t get it started”.

Slapbak. Sexay. In a fist fight between this album and the Cloverfield monster my money’s on the heavy funk album. And deleted. This stank and still stinks. Every single track a monster. Syncopation, gated snares and an UNGH or too. UNGH! Also ballads. Melody. And I like a minor key choir.

Whole album. ‘She Never Comes’, ‘If We Were Lovers’, ‘Don’t Order My Heart to Go’. ‘Too Cool’. Worth downloading for that one track alone. ‘Love Story’. Jara Harris sings.

Please buy their records. Link in the comments. La de dah.

  1. Hey man- I love what you’re doing here :D it’s great to see, unfortunately all files seem to be 25K, am I doing something wrong? Sorry if I’m just being stupid…

  2. I think I’ve figured it out now, although I keep getting told the zip file is corrupt?! Either way DO NOT let this blog die or I will release the hounds.

  3. Hey man, everything else works for me except this, both Winzip and Winrar have a problem with it- they tell me “unexpected end of file” or words to that effect… Can you help? I hope so motherfunker.

  4. You’re so right. This grooves so HARD! Thank you.
