The Nation Funktasia: In Search of the Last Trump of Funk
“They say I am American. Why won’t they make me President?”
I said I would. And here it is. And playing it again, lord have mercy. Fantastically good (the first seven tunes at any rate…)
Neo-P-Funk from 1991 complete with list of invented slang and a comic in which Prince and George Clinton are deified as intergalactic ambassadors of funk. And this is sensible. And for this album, somewhat fitting. Denzil Foster and Thomas McElroy produced it. What happened to Denzil and Thomas? The world is not very good without them.
Curiously melancholic on occasion. Just heavy on others. But singing! Choirs! Bass guitars! Sad songs! Good songs! This turned into a classic while no-one was watching. And it even looks like they’re about to sort out the President thing at last.
THIS BLOG IS VERY GOOD.

Just found this place and I’m so psyched to find the Edwin Birdsong post. Looking forward to giving it a listen on the ride to work tomorrow. Thanks, I’m looking forward to some fine funk in the future.

I was looking up the nation for something unrelated earlier, when I came across this post. I downloaded the link you put here, then took a closer look at the enclosed pic. Hey, it’s my scan! I recognized the markings immediately. The torn corners and whatnot.
It’s all good though. As long as it is used to spread the word of the nation!
peace and love.

That’s…. very likely.
I really can’t remember where I found the scan, and I am terribly, terribly lazy.
Apologies and thanks for making the original.
